the deal's off!

Just had an interesting conversation with the Lord while I was in the shower.  It went something like this....Lord do you allow me to walk through crap sometimes, just so I can share it on my blog??  Just so someone who might be going through something similar can relate?  Cause really it would be easier for me if we just stuck to smooth sailing.  Unfortunately he didn't answer me back...he didn't have to;)

Honey just called me a few minutes ago and I could tell by his pensive...fake cheerful voice that he was trying to tell me something in the least dramatic, least painful way possible.  Apparently the loan officer failed to tell our buyer that he needed a certain dollar amount in the bank to qualify for his VA loan, so his loan fell through.  That's right girls  I said it...the deal's off!  Oh and the furnace in our old house isn't working...grrrrr.

Am I disappointed YES?!  Am I mad at God?  No.  I wish life was easy.  I wish it didn't require a huge amount of daily faith to get by.  I wish that loan officers weren't ignorant!  But the fact is that disappointment comes to all of us.  I have a friend who just lost a baby...another who is going through a divorce.  People write me about how they are waiting for answers to come...that their husbands have been out of work for a very long they are so hungry for friends that loneliness has taken a hold of them.  If we expect smooth sailing in life we are going to be let down over and over again.

I'm not putting the weight of this house mess on my shoulders.  It's not for me to worry about.  I'm continuing to trust.  He's got it covered.  Regardless of the outcome it will be alright.  So there's the ugly truth.  Life sucks sometimes, but joy comes in the morning.  I can hardly wait for daybreak.  **Please pray that a new buyer comes.  Our realtors are scrambling.

Have a blessed day.

  1. I will add you to my prayer list right now.

  2. That is one of my many problems i think. Is always thinking of the glass as half empty or getting angry when things arnt smooth sailing. Its always nice to hear that others are in the same "boat" as me.
Thank you for giving me another way to look at it♥

  3. I've been away...and it's funny how every time I "come back" to you I remember why I like it here so much. Not because this post was cheerful or made me laugh, it certainly did not, but because it's real and it helps remind me what I try to focus on every by faith. (God is using you!)

I will certainly add you to my prayers, Becky. Go read Jeremiah 29:11. Always gets me through the day.

Oh, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who says "crap" on my blog. I actually used it in a post title one day. Felt so dirty. ;)

  4. I'm believing with you that your house will sell even more quickly NOW in spite of this circumstance. Take another look at "Jesus Calling" for Jan. 26 after you read Jeremiah 29:11. It really IS going to be all right!!! Hallelujah!

  5. When my son died, I had a lot of conversations with the Lord while in the shower as well.
I did my best crying there...Loud crying. And it felt good to have the warm water over me mixing with the tears.

Yes, hard things certainly happen in life. Really hard and disappointing things.
Fretting more, screaming louder, and sobbing longer....doesn't change that.
Being calm, and talking to the Lord is the only peace we find from these things.

for now, the loan thing sucks
but there is a buyer who was just waiting for THAT deal to be off

  6. maybe He dose let you walk through crap just so you can blog about it and so I can relate! ;) Yup, your post is tiimed too nicely with some 'crap' that's been dished out on us these last two days. So uh...thanks for going through stuff and blogging about it. ♥ Life is a challenge, but like you said, it's not up to us, we must TRUST the Lord - He is good! Even when we don't see, don't understand and don't know why! God bless you! :)

  7. Everything always works out in the end...if it doesn't...It isn't the end. ;)

  8. You are not alone in your real estate struggles, my sweet friend. I know all too well the frustration, fear, and anxiety that comes with selling a home. Believe it or not, our renter who has been a fabulous renter for the past two years suddenly stopped making monthly payments for the past 2 months (we didn't know about it til today), and instead of wanting to buy our home in March like he had told us, he's moving out of the country to take another job. Our checkbook is completely messed up; we're returning to living life paycheck to paycheck; and will be making payments/utility payments on two homes again. I'm scared and just want to sit and cry about it. On to of this, Hubby's truck quite working, and my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimers. My plate is full. My heart is torn. And I'm hanging on to God by my fingernails....

I will be praying that God will send buyers to both of our homes as quickly as possible. I'm looking forward to joyfully celebrating that day with you!

    xoxo laurie

  9. Oh that stinks. That has happened to us....not once......but twice. The first time Hubby's sister was buying our house. Then her house being sold fell through. We had no money anyway and it was awful. The next time was a little easier. The worst part is thinking it was sold. I'll say prayers as well.
    Stay strong.

  10. So sorry to hear the deal fell through, Becky, but for some reason, it just wasn't meant to be. I can't tell you the number of times I've gotten in the shower and bawled my eyes out over the fact that my husband has been out of work for nearly 9 long months. Then, I hear about someone who's been diagnosed with cancer or another person whose young child passed away and it puts everything in perspective. Right now may seem like the worst day ever, but never forget that God is at work...and He will make things right! Have FAITH!

  11. ooh, I am so sorry to hear that! Your house in MN is SO cute, and someone will be lucky to get it! Way to keep your head held high :) And that shower picture is cool, love the water droplets!

  12. i hear you asking what i often ask. God i know you move as you please, but REALLY? our old house took 2 years to sell, and i honestly could not see the light at the end of the tunnel. but it did sell. and yours will, and this will be a distant memory.

    sending sunshine.

  13. Oh wow ~ that just sucks! Keeping my fingers crossed that a new buyer comes along sooner than later. xo

  14. Oh honey, so sorry and if it helps at all it's happened to us twice before. So needless to say I understand the crappy thing that's happened. So not fair and so disappointing (and I understand that it would be so great to see that buyer and shake some sense into them). One of the times it happened to us the buyers just changed their minds one week before it all closed. How do people do things like that to someone? I remember thinking this isn't like changing your mind about a pair of shoes for Pete's sake. The good thing is you know God's got a plan. Thank goodness, right?

  15. Oh, Becky, I am so sorry. But, God does have it under control, even when we don't. It's hard and we have to remind ourselves daily to lay it at His feet. I'll sure be praying and thanks for sharing your heart with us. Hugs!

  16. Hi! I just came across your home tour and LOVE it! and then, as I looked at your blog, I realized you moved to Richmond! We just moved to Richmond! I have three daughters (6,4 and 3)and we moved for a job in the area. Saying a prayer for your house situation to work out :)
Happy to find your blog and see your fun artwork!

  17. We have had 2 houses for a year now. :( Very long story, but I understand your upset today. Just this past week we've had 5 showings and are praying someone makes an offer. We've had a lot of people LOVE our place, but nothing has come through. Praying for you and we do have to trust NO MATTER WHAT, Daddy is gonna take care of us. He promised to never leave or forsake us. Sometimes it's not the way we'd like it to turn out, but the comfort of knowing He's there, that's where we have to keep our thoughts.

  18. Its so hard to understand why stuff like this happens. To be honest, until recently my question has always been "WHY is this happening to me/us?" Instead of having the right attitude in the trial, I wasted time on asking why. Someone recently told me "its because God sees you as being worthy of this trial, knowing it will work something out in your life"(we just had a fire in our 1860 home that consumed us for weeks).
Through this, Ive chosen to have an attitude of JOY through the pain and harship. It doesnt make it go away, but life sure seems to go better when Ive got a better outlook.
Im praying for you right now as I type. And wondering WHO He has planned down the road for this sale:)

  19. I do know how you are feeling. We have a townhouse that we purchase for our son to go to school, which was cheaper than paying rent, and an investement so we thought. We bought in a sought after location, and in the height of the housing market!tonight over dinner, my husband said to me, who would have thought it would be this hard when we got ready to sell. It has been a year, but I think I can finally say, I have given it to the Lord. We are doing all that we can to sell it, w/o a realtor I might add, because the loss is going to be great, so believe me I know the disappointment, so I will be praying for a buyer for you.

  20. Oh Becky I'm so sorry for your disappointing news. I will be praying for another buyer to come along pronto!!! For some reason that you just don't see yet, God has something better planned. You can count on that. Wish I could be there to give you a real live hug. Sending a ((((hug))))) your way right now and asking God to give it to you. Hope you feel it!! ♥

  21. ewww.Sorry!!! You know He has a better deal in store...He knows best. I will keep you in my prays for sure. Hang in there...Keep prayin' He will answer soon. Mica/The Child's Paper

  22. I went through 6 buyers until they finally approved the short sale on my Condo. I had many a conversation with God asking him why. After 9 months , He finally answered and the sale was approved. Time and patience don't always go hand in hand but His timing is always perfect. Never early, never late. My prayers are with you and your family. It will all be ok, Promise.

  24. i am sorry to hear what you are going through...i can't begin to imagine the frustration you must be feeling. i have come across a saying lately that has helped me through a few rough patchs...
'when you are going through something hard and wonder where God is, remember the teacher is always quiet during the test.' cant remember where i saw it... will be praying for you...

  25. oh the wonderful housing market. I must say your problem is not so serious. we too have our house on the market, 20 months now. over the summer we had the buyer and his offer, the inspection that came last minute and then him coming 2 days after the original closing date, he wanted us to drop the price of the house $30,000.00 yep that is thirty thousand dollars. He wanted us to pour a basement where our house has a dirt floor cellar. He insisted this was found only in the inspection and he had not seen it the four times he was here before or in the disclosure paperwork. so we had a truck loaded to move and waiting in our state to go to the new state where we had a house bought, that had to be let go. the buyer then dropped the deal all together siting that his buyer for his house left him and he could not close.

so be assured, you are doing well.

  26. oh sweet girl. i'm sorry. He has your back, He has it all in His hands. rest in that. throw your cares on the One who cares for you. praying.

on a light note, i'm making some crock pot chicken today. it will be perfect for next friday's linky. : )

  27. Bummer. Praying for you. I'd say deals on 'cause the most important part of that transaction is your simple trust and reliance on Him. 'cause in the end that's all we are left with right?

    xo Ellie

  28. so sorry. :(
    praying for you guys.
i know that God has it all under control, though, and He will reveal Himself mightily.
    i'm sure of it.
can't wait to hear what He's gonna do!

  29. Soooo know what your are going through with this lovely housing market. We will have our house in Gig Harbor, WA for awhile I think until prices get better. All of the costs associated with living in NY and having a house all the way across the country are really such a bummer sometimes. I try not to let myself go there in terms of all the "what if's" - hoping everything will be ok for you guys!!!!

  30. This might be THE door that God is opening for your future soon-to-be buyer! Hang in there. Hug,
    Jen xo

  31. Hang in there ! Everyone is dealing with the same situation. We lost a$100k when we sold out house.

  32. Praying for you and your family Becky. God has a plan for you; don't lose hope! You're such a strong woman and you always have a positive outlook. Don't lose that positivity!

  33. Have you heard of the children' book Pete the cat? It is one of my girls' favorites. Pete the cat is walking along in his new white shoes and steps into strawberries, then blueberries, etc. Did Pete get upset? "Goodness,no!" He just kept walkin' along.
At the end of the story is this:
"No matter what you step in, keep walking along and singing your song...because its all good."
You can search for it on youtube. The author reads/sings it to a storyhour and the song is really catchy!

  34. I will pray that a new buyer comes along. Life is tough, but we are all in together and we have an awesome Father who will always take care of us.

  35. shoot!! I"m sooo sorry this happened!

  36. oh that stinks. I live for the mornings...His compassions fail not They are fresh every morning. Lamentatiojns 3:22b-23a

  37. solution: give them the $ for their bank account, and raise the price of the house :)

there are ways to dance around these things...

    wish i could help

  38. Matt 6:25 Therefore I tell you do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink or about your body what you will wear. Is not your life more imporatant than food and the body more imporatant than clothes?
This is what the pator went over in church today. It's funny how every Sunday the message seems like it has been written just for me. I hope you give your worries to God. Don't let the devil take you down the path of doubt. There will be a resolution just give it to Him.

  39. i know the next paragraph in this story already and it is a GOOD one :) love to you.

  40. Im so sorry. I was so excited to hear your good news. Ill be hoping for a new buyer and happy ending for you. I really think the market is picking up here in MN.

  41. praying for you friend.

I feel ashamed that I spent most of my life with Christ over the past 20 years expecting life to be smooth because so much of my childhood wasn't.

I was loving God very conditionally.

I'm so thankful that he revealed it to my heart and my heart responded in repentance. He is good and gracious and loving.

I know it's hard when troubles come..especially when the trials/troubles are attached to finances. That house that we held onto for three years tested us like nothing else.

Praying that you are reminded of his faithfulness to provide even when his provision is different than we expect.

Praying for increased faith for both of you and for your girls as they watch you trust him no matter what happens with this house.

    praying, praying, praying.

  42. Ughhhh I'm so sorry for this rotten news you received and i'm praying for a buyer!
    Hang in there,

  43. Life can be so hard sometimes and in such an unexpected way. Thankfully the morning always does come and He is The Bright Morning Star. He promises that He will be there! I am so thankful.

  44. so sorry for your disappointment! praying and praying for you. hope your monday is lovely! xo

  45. you are so right
many go through disappointments..we are all in this together. To encourage to lift to pray
    to help where needed
I am SO SORRY I've been so busy that I haven't got to visit this last week.
I read this and I felt your heart
and I prayed right then..right now:)
I can tell you lately that practicing trusting Him..saying it out loud even..has helped me immensely!
It will work will be all right.
I love ya! keep focused on Him only...

  46. We have been through this exact same thing...except we had more than one home for sale. Yep, HARD to deal with , right? I'll pray for you and for your honey...seems to be more stressful on a man. He might not "say" anything , like we would as women...but it definitely weighed heavily on mine when we went through this. I pray you all have PEACE and focus on the positives. :)

Thanks for taking a minute to share your thoughts. I love hearing what YOU have to say:)
