butterfly kisses

A few months ago Little Chick started a new bedtime ritual.  It came out of nowhere.  In addition to the turtle star nightlight, noisemaker, and air purifier she now surrounds herself with about a dozen of her sweet little stuffed animals.  Each one has it's own special assigned seating.

I have no idea how she falls asleep all smothered with those toys.  It makes me a little claustrophobic looking at her, but it must calm her and make her feel safe and that's a good thing.  She also needs her butterfly kisses before I leave the room.  I love the giggles that always come when my lashes touch her cheeks and vice versa.  It makes my day:)

We've been getting all our sleep overs and play dates in.  The girls seem to be taking this moving thing with such stride.  But it's the little things that come out that make me wonder.

The girls made goodbye books for each other.  When she read through the last pages I could see her eyes mist up and she quickly made her way to the bathroom.  Saying goodbye is hard no matter what the age.  It breaks my heart for them.  It's going to be good.  I know they will adjust and make friends in no time.  I'm really not worried.  I just wish this part was easier...and over.

Have a blessed day.

  1. Those pouty faces could break your heart! So bittersweet.

  2. Her face made me cry a little. : (
    Praying for you.

  3. Saying a prayer that your chicks hearts are eased as they get ready for the move.

  4. I know this is a tough time but just know you all are going to be so happy in your new home. It's so nice to visiting around in blog land this evening. I've had very little time for it lately, but it's a bright spot in my day today. Blessings to you!

  6. Awwwww, that is so sweet that they made each other books. I always had a ton of stuffed animals to sleep with when I was a kid, surrounding me just like she does. I distinctly remember doing that...ahh, memories. :)

  7. Shes a sweetie!
My oldest used to have so many stuffed toys to sleep with him aat night...I too, wondered if there would be any room left for him to sleep in that bed! :)
How sweet that they made books for each other!

    Deborah xoxo

  8. That first pic is just the BEST!
Her tucked in there with all her pals!

  9. girl....I use to sleep with every stuffed animal in my room, too!! I have vivid memories of my mother being in my room giving me kisses and very patiently helping me get every last animal beside me on every side.

I just know that your sweet one will remember these nights of her childhood having you help her to feel safe. precious memories being made.

And you're right....goodbyes are hard...this is why I think I'd just love you in real life. :) You give all of yourself away to the people that God puts in your path....and it looks like your girls do, too.

praying for you guys as you finish out this chapter....

  10. That does have to be sad...

It's kinda like for us as adults...if moving: it broaden's the horizons of our memories and deepens the friendships of the ones we've left behind.

I don't know if you've ever sat back and thought about ALL the people you "know" from different times and places in your life-time. It's mind-boggling.

    It's rich...

  11. oh, I feel her pain. When I was small I moved every year until I was 14...being the new girl is not very fun...I pray you all have a smooth transition!!

  12. I got a little misty looking at at the picture of your cutie pie with all her stuffed youngest did the same thing. So cute. The butterfly girls are now 20 and just shy of 15...we still give them to each other :)

  13. Good-byes are hard. I don't blame you for wanting this part of the move to be over.

  14. I love butterfly kisses! Your girls are so sweet and kind, they will no doubt make oodles of new friends in no time!

  15. aw, Becky. :( That is so sweet and so hard. Sophia had a best friend back home. They were such great pals. We still make time to see her when we go back. I hope (I know!) Little Chick will fit right in and find her group in no time!

I love that it has expanded our horizons and taught us about making friends with so many new people!! :) Praying for your sweet chicks!! (And their mama!)

  16. You are such a great mommy and little chick has a big passionate heart just like you. I love it that they made goodbye books for one another. I remember making books of quotes or sweet sentiments as a child too for others. Then I started to keep a journal and have ever since. Hint hint...a good idea for her and her sister so they can start writing down their feelings and stories about their new adventure and home. Oh that reminds me! I haven't been such a good girl. I never did get that journal that I wanted to make for you finished...argh.. Maybe it will get to you at your new address one day!

Still praying for you and your family.

  17. Hi, I came over from Life With Kaishon blog after reading your interview. I really enjoyed it. Your pictures and painings are gorgeous. I love farms too but yours in the USA are much prettier. I love the red barns. Here in northern England our farm houses are mainly made of gray stone and the fields are divided by dry stone walls.
Good luck with your move to Virginia.

  18. Love your pics of the girls. These will be ones for the books. All the best in your move to the great state of VA. :)

  19. You are a GREAT mom! I enjoy reading your adventures, especially about moving. Growing up I moved about every 4-5 years until I was 23. It was always hard to say good bye, but I always made new friends and still have old friends from long ago. I wish you and your family the best in your move. With your smile, you will fit right in anywhere!

  20. My 10 year old does this. Every little stuffed animal has it's place around her bed. Sweet, but it sure drags out the tuck in time. Though I've started to learn the places for each and am assisting to speed things up a bit! ;)

  21. those sweet things. i hope it goes as easily as it can and i hope they make friends quickly in va. it will be great!

  22. What a beautiful idea to make good-bye books for each other! They will be treasures for years to come, I am sure. It is definately not easy to move for kids or adults, but He is with you all on this new adventure. Prayers, Becky.

Thanks for taking a minute to share your thoughts. I love hearing what YOU have to say:)
